The previous treatment by Henri Perrier de la Bâthie for Flore et des Comores recognized five species: alata Thouars, bicolor H. Perrier, bipinnata Tul., commersoniana DC. setigera Tul. complete study all material available in G, K, MO P has facilitated critical review taxonomy genus. Only three species are here recognized: alata, thompsoniana Three names proposed as new synonyms lectotypes designated.
